The political action committee (PAC) overseen by the Association for the Advancement of Psychology (AAP) will be absorbed into a new PAC operated by the APA Practice Organization (APAPO) by the end of the year.

Members and contributors to AAP were notified of the change in letters sent in July.

Katherine C. Nordal, Ph.D., APA’s executive director for professional practice, told The National Psychologist that AAP and APAPO have worked together for years on congressional lobbying and concentrating those efforts under one umbrella is expected to improve those efforts.

“It will be the APAPO PAC,” Nordal said. “We really need one big effort of political advocacy.”
